Ross Fedenia is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Atlatl Advisers. He sets the firm's strategic direction and serves as the primary wealth adviser for high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth families, working with them on investment management, financial planning, and the coordination of estate and tax decisions.
Ross began his career as a research analyst at Nakoma Capital Management, a Madison firm that managed a long-short absolute return fund, and that experience is the basis for Atlatl's aim of bringing institutional-quality investment management to private clients. He went on to build his wealth management practice at Robert W. Baird and UBS Financial Services. He established Atlatl as an independent registered investment adviser on the conviction that an open-architecture firm, rather than a captive or closed platform, is better suited to deliver advice and solutions tailored to each family's needs as their circumstances and the markets around them change. Independence also allows Atlatl to act as a fiduciary for its clients without the conflicts that come with offering a parent company's products. Under his leadership, the firm has grown into a boutique multi-family office.
After studying economics at the University of Chicago, Ross became the first graduate of the University of Wisconsin's Wealth Management and Financial Planning Program, which was first offered in fall 2014. The program was founded by his father, Mark Fedenia, Ph.D., who is now Atlatl's Director of Investments. Ross is a CFP® professional.
Outside the office, Ross enjoys the outdoors with his wife, Emily, a co-founder of the firm. A former collegiate soccer player, he still plays and stays active in the Madison community.
